On 29Th January there was an interesting and informative guest lecture for mass.communication students about “CITIZEN JOURNALISM” which was held in ANWER SULTANA AUDITORIUM at JINNAH UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN(JUW).The guest speaker was a producer and anchor of DAWN NEWS “OVAIS AHMED TANVEER MANGALWALA
In his opinion,citizen journalist is defined as”When the people use the tools of journalism in order to communicate with each other”
Then he mentioned four types of journalism which was:
1.       Sharing of experience
2.       Sharing of opinion
3.       Sharing of discovery
4.       Sharing of expertise
Mr.mangalwala explained these four types and then he promote his new program “MERI NAZAR”which is going to start on DAWN NEWS.He further said that through this show we will promote citizen journalism,anyone who interested to become a citizen journalist,they can easily share their videos,images etc.
Mr.mangalwala highlighted the key areas which should be focus a good citizen journalist that is:
1.       Highlight those issues which media doesn’t highlighted.
2.       Positive promotion of everything.
3.       Negativity of media should be highlighted.

Mr.mangalwala sum up his lecture and then he gave some key points for citizen journalist. 
   Following are the key points of Citizen Journalist.

1.      The necessity should be real.
2.      Remember that everything and anything can be reported. 
3.      Write your own point of view,and express it your own term.
4.      Never underestimate yourself.
5.      You have to be accurate but never exaggerate.
6.     Accuracy is the key.
7.   Use appropriate words and terminology. 
8.      Follow a code of conduct. 
9.      Avoid plagiarism 
10.   Keep your eyes open and try to report each and everything.
11.  Find a mentor.
12.   Find those people who give you a proper feedback.
                                                                    
After guest lecture Miss Humera, lecturer of mass communication department thank Mr. Ovais for coming  and sharing his thoughts and experience. She congratulated him for starting his upcoming show.
